Our Vision & Mission

Vision

"Prevention of Avoidable Blindness"

We envision a future where no one suffers from blindness that could have been prevented. Our focus is on identifying and addressing the causes of avoidable blindness in marginalized and underserved communities, ensuring that every individual has access to the care they need to preserve their vision.

Mission

"Eradication of treatable blindness through world class eye care & professional education"

Hithaishi Charitable Trust is dedicated to eradicating treatable blindness in marginalized communities by:

  1. Delivering World-Class Eye Care: We provide high-quality, comprehensive eye care services, ensuring that even the most underserved individuals have access to treatment. This includes offering free or highly subsidized cataract surgeries, affordable outpatient services, and mobile eye clinics to reach remote areas.

  2. Focusing on Marginalized Communities: Our mission is rooted in supporting vulnerable groups, including seniors, children, and women in low-income areas, ensuring they receive the eye care they need for a better quality of life.

Empowering Eye Healthcare Professionals: We are committed to the education and training of eye care professionals, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to provide exceptional care with devotion and dedication.

Our Aims & Objectives

Delivering High-Quality Eye Care to the Neediest

We are committed to providing the highest quality eye care to those most affected by poverty, lack of awareness, or unavailability of services, ensuring that even the poorest communities receive the treatment they need.

Eradicating Blindness

Our mission includes the eradication of blindness through the promotion of health, education, and employment. This involves establishing hospitals, wellness centers, educational institutions, and satellite and mobile clinics to extend our reach.

Providing Accessible Treatment

We aim to offer free or subsidized eye care services through our hospitals and vision centers, making treatment accessible to those who cannot afford it, particularly in communities close to our facilities.

Expanding Vision Centers

We plan to establish 20 vision centers, each capable of conducting door-to-door screenings under the initiative "Ankhon ka Upchar Aap Ke Dwar" (Eye Care at Your Doorstep). Each center will serve 50 to 70 villages, providing 50,000 eye checkups and 1,000 surgeries annually. Collectively, these centers will benefit 500,000 people with 10,000 eye surgeries every year.

Skill Development and Training

We are dedicated to enhancing the skills of healthcare professionals through teaching, training, and specialization programs. This includes training doctors, ophthalmic assistants, ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and other healthcare professionals in community management and support, backed by ongoing research and academic activities.

Supporting National Blindness Control Programs

We contribute to the success of the National Program for Control of Blindness by aligning our efforts with national goals.

Enhancing Eye Banking and Keratoplasty Services

We are focused on improving eye bank services and keratoplasty (corneal transplant) procedures to meet growing needs.

Conducting Epidemiological Research

We engage in research to understand the current state of eye care, the availability of services, and the requirements for vision care in society.

Advocacy for Better Eye Care Systems

We advocate for improvements in the eye care system through policy and planning, emphasizing the significant impact of poor vision on education, employability, equality, road safety, and overall quality of life.
